Computer-animated presentations of time-varying physiological functions of the brain are presented in this study. The disk is divided into 11 animated teaching modules covering topics such as the movement of ions across the membrane and the movement of the action potential along an axon.
Computer-animated presentations of time-varying physiological functions of the brain are presented in this study, which also includes computer-animated instruction. The disk is divided into 11 animated teaching modules (averaging 10-15 minutes each), covering a wide variety of topics that are difficult to convey using static textbook illustrations such as: the movement of ions across the membrane; the movement of the action potential along an axon; vesicle mobilization; transmitter binding/channel opening; second messenger activation; neural network function; and lateral inhibition. The disk serves as a tool for transmitting information which is difficult to explain orally.
