José María Ponce-Ortega is a full Professor at the Chemical Engineering Department, Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, Mexico. He obtained his Ph.D. and Master degrees in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Technology of Celaya (Mexico). He previously held posts as a postdoctoral researcher at Texas A&M University, USA, and as a visiting scholar at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Prof. Ponce-Ortega has published over 300 papers, 4 books, and 50 book chapters. He has also supervised 25 Ph.D. and 40 Master students, and has worked on 15 funded research projects totaling approximately $US 1,000,000.00. He is a member of the editorial boards of Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy and Process Integration and Optimization for Sustainability, and a subject editor for the Sustainable Production and Consumption journal, as well as a member of the National Research System of Mexico. Prof. Ponce-Ortega’s research is in the areas of optimization of chemical processes, sustainable design, energy, mass, water and property integration, and supply chain optimization. Dr. José Ezequiel Santibañez- Aguilar got his Ph.D. and Master degrees in the Chemical Engineering Department in the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo in Mexico in 2016 and 2013, respectively. He stayed as scholar researcher at Texas A&M University and Northwestern University. Currently, he is professor at the Tecnologico de Monterrey in Mexico and he is member of the National Research System of Mexico. His research interest is in the area of optimization of supply chains for biorefineries accounting for the involved sustainability. He has published more than 20 papers and 11 book chapters.
