Plant Anatomy
Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-319-77208-0 (ISBN)
Each of the 19 richly-illustrated chapters has an abstract, a list of keywords, an introduction, a text body consisting of 10 to 20 concept-based sections, and a list of references and additional readings. At the end of each chapter, the instructor and student will find a section-by-section concept review, concept connections, concept assessment (10 multiple-choice questions), and concept applications. Answers to the assessment material are found in an appendix. An index and a glossary with over 700 defined terms complete the volume.
This textbook is an outgrowth of an electronic CD published in 2003, and co-authored by Prof. Emeritus Crang along with the late Prof. Andrey Vassilyev, lead scientist in Anatomy of the Komarov Botanical Garden in St. Petersburg, Russia. Prof. Emeritus Crang has published extensively in plant anatomy and electron microscopy and has taught and conducted botanical research at a variety of international universities and government organizations. To replace Prof. Vassilyev, Prof. Wise joined the authorship in 2014 due to his strong background in teaching and research in plant physiology, plant anatomy and microscopy. Subsequently, Dr. Lyons-Sobaski was asked to round-out the authorship due to her work in ecology, population genetics and educational experiences related to plant anatomy. Dr. Richard Crang, Professor Emeritus, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (cell biology, microscopy, anatomy) Dr. Sheila Lyons-Sobaski, Associate Professor, Albion College, Albion, Michigan (genetics, ecology, anatomy) Dr. Robert Wise, Professor, University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh (physiology, anatomy)

"This book is a veritable phytostructural image-fest - as any plant anatomy text worthy of that title should be, and deserves to do well in helping to promote a fundamental topic of plant biology that underpins many other studies within plant science." (Nigel Chaffey, Botany One, botany.one, April 26, 2019)
