In developing the Cornell Lab Birder's Life List and Journal, we reached out to members of the birding community to ask what they wanted in a Life List and diary / journal. And to fulflll those requests from real birders (as we do with many of our books), we've added requested elements, such as fill-ins for sightings with weather, time of day, companion, and other contextual fill-ins.
The Cornell Lab of Ornithology is a world leader in the study, appreciation, and conservation of birds. Its hallmarks are scientific excellence and technological innovation to advance the understanding of nature and to engage people of all ages in learning about birds and protecting the planet. Founded in 1915, the Cornell Lab is a nonprofit organization with a vibrant community that includes 400,000 citizen-science participants from all walks of life and 14 million bird enthusiasts of all ages who connect with us online at AllAboutBirds.org. As a proud unit of Cornell University we have seven faculty on staff and access to world-class resources. Thirty-five percent of net proceeds from Cornell Lab Publishing Group books go directly to support the Cornell Lab, including children's educational and community programs. Rigel Stuhmiller is an illustrator who caught her fascination of birds from her husband, a wetland restoration ecologist. With a degree from MIT and a lifelong passion for art and design, Rigel blends science and artistic interpretation in a uniquely bold, colorful style that captures the beauty and personality of birds in varied environments. Her aim is to capture the uplifting joy that birding and nature bring to everyone, regardless of age or experience. Rigel lives in California's Bay Area.
