Silica-coated Magnetic Nanoparticles
Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-319-50157-4 (ISBN)
This brief offers a comprehensive discussion of magnetic targeted drug delivery of silica-coated nanodevices. Focusing on the latest trend in pharmaceutical applications of these nanodevices, a multidisciplinary overview is displayed, from synthesis and design to pharmacokenetics, biodistribution and toxicology.
1. Prof. Dr. Verónica Lassalle graduated as Bachelor in Chemistry on 2000 at the National University of South (UNS, Argentina). She obtained her PhD degree in Chemistry from Pilot Plant of Chemical Engineering (PLAPIQUI, Argentina) on 2006 in the topic “Chemical modification of SBS copolymers”. Currently, she is Senior Researcher (CONICET) and full Professor at the Chemistry Institute of South (INQUISUR), Bahía Blanca, Argentina. She participates of one Cooperation Project with Biotechnological and Genetic Engineering Centre (CIGB) from La Habana, Cuba, in the topic “Development and Research on biodrugs with antitumoral activity. A study on the delivery systems and intracellular signalization” granted by MinCyT (Argentina) and CITMA (Cuba). 2. Prof. Dr. Mariela A. Agotegaray was born in October 1982 in Bahia Blanca, Argentina. She obtained a degree in Biochemistry at the National University of the South, Bahia Blanca and at the same University she defended her doctoral thesis entitled "Coordination Complexes of Copper (II) with Fenoprofen. Chemical, Therapeutics and Toxicology”. She has developed postdoctoral studies at INQUISUR (Institute of Chemistry South), National University of the South, on "Synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles with applications in transportation and controlled release of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs". She currently is Scientific Researcher for CONICET (National Council of Scientific and Technical Research) at INQUISUR, working on "Design of nanoparticles with magnetic properties and their application in the treatment of inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases”.
