Hema Singh is currently working as Principal Scientist in Centre for Electromagnetics of CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bangalore, India. Before NAL, she was Lecturer in EEE, BITS, Pilani, India during 2001-2004. She obtained her Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering from IIT-BHU, Varanasi India in 2000. Her active area of research is Computational Electromagnetics for Aerospace Applications. More specifically, the topics she has contributed to are GTD/UTD, EM analysis of propagation in an indoor environment, Phased Arrays, Conformal Antennas, Radar Cross Section (RCS) Studies including Active RCS Reduction. She has received the Best Woman Scientist Award at CSIR-NAL, Bangalore for period of 2007-2008 for her contribution in area of phased antenna array, adaptive arrays, and active RCS reduction. Dr. Singh has co-authored nine books, one book chapter, and over 170 scientific research papers and technical reports.
Simy Antony obtained her B.Tech. (ECE) from University of Calicut, India and M.Tech. in Electronics (Microwave and Radar Electronics) from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kerala, India. She was a Project Scientist at the Centre for Electromagnetics (CEM) of CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore where she worked on RCS studies for aerospace vehicles.
Harish Singh Rawat obtained M.Sc. (Electronics) in 2013 from Department of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India. He worked as Project Engineer at Centre for Electromagnetics (CEM) of CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, India. Currently he is doing Ph.D. in CSIR-NPL, New Delhi. His research interests include RCS studies, radar absorbing structures (RAS), low-profile antennas, phased arrays mounted on planar and non-planar surfaces.
This book focuses on EM propagation characteristics within multilayered plasma-dielectric-metallic media. The method used for analysis is impedance transformation method. Plasma covered radar absorbing material is approximated as a multi-layered dielectric medium. The plasma is considered to be bounded homogeneous/inhomogeneous medium. The reflection coefficient and hence return loss is analytically derived. The role of plasma parameters, such as electron density, collision frequency, plasma thickness, and plasma density profile in the absorption behavior of multi-layered plasma-RAM structure is described. This book provides a clearer picture of EM propagation within plasma. The reader will get an insight of plasma parameters that play significant role in deciding the absorption characteristics of plasma covered surfaces.
