This book discusses basic thermodynamic behaviors and 'abnormal' properties from a thermo-physical perspective, and explores basic heat transfer and flow properties, the latest findings on their physical aspects and indications, chemical engineering properties, microscale phenomena, as well as transient behaviors in fast and critical environments. It also presents the most and challenging problems and the outlook for applications and innovations of supercritical fluids.

Dr. Lin Chen is a JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) Research Fellow at the Institute of Fluid Science, Tohoku University, Japan. He received his B.E. (2010) and Ph.D (2015) in Energy and Resources Engineering from Peking University’s College of Engineering. His current research topics include energy resources, oceanic methane hydrate utilization, microscale compressible fluid flows, and multi-scale heat/mass transfer. Dr. Lin Chen has won the President Scholarship (PKU), National Scholarship (MOE), Elite Scholar (PKU), and other honors at Peking University. He received the Excellent Doctoral Degree Dissertation for 2015 by Peking University, which is awarded for the best thesis in each research area. He was among the Outstanding Graduates of PKU  and Beijing City in 2015.
