Provides solutions to some of the complex problems in chemical process design: sizing equipment, performing such operations as liquid-liquid extraction and gas in liquid separation vessel sizing and rating, and more. This title explains complex operations and formulas, and provides a tutorial for authoring tailor made Visual Basic programs.
This book is a true engineer's toolkit, providing the solutions to some of the most complex problems in chemical process design: sizing equipment, estimating cost for modular packages, and performing such operations as liquid-liquid extraction and gas in liquid separation vessel sizing and rating. Complex operations and formulas are presented and explained in an easy-to-understand format. "Industrial/Chemical Process Design" provides a step by step tutorial for authoring tailor made Visual Basic programs.

DOUGLAS L. ERWIN, P.E. is a practicing process engineer for engineering design and construction companies, major refinery-operating companies, and major chemical product companies. His project assignments have ranged from daily, routine technical services in refineries through the conception of new, complex, first-of-their-type patented processes. His chief quest in engineering practice has been to extend our knowledge beyond commercial process-simulation software, covering the severe technology gaps these packages miss. Process unit operation equipment, design and rating of fractionation equipment, three-phase separation equipment, packaged plant cost analysis, and equipment emergency pressure relief have been his main fields of accomplishment. Since graduating from Lamar University with a BS in chemical engineering in 1956, he has achieved these accomplishments in such locations worldwide as Korea, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Peru, Singapore, Canada, Alaska, the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, Egypt, and the United States. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas by written examination. He is accounted by clients worldwide to be an expert consultant on code safety practice, the design and operation of oil and gas production and gas processing plants, and refinery liquid-liquid extraction design and operation.
