The regulation of cell division and its relevance to cancer is an area of intense research activity and, in recent years, major progress has been made in our understanding of the processes regulating cell growth and their contribution to carcinogenesis. This volume reviews recent developments.
Research in cellular and molecular biology has reached the point now where it is possible to begin to see how the different fields of cancer genetics/oncogene research and intercellular communication form an integrated molecular model for the regulation of normal and neoplastic cell proliferation. A number of important discoveries in this field during the past few year shave greatly increased our understanding of cancer biology and have offered new diagnostic and
prognostic parameters in oncology. This information also holds the promise of novel, more effective therapeutic approaches to cancer. However, it is becoming increasingly difficult for an individual to maintain a wide and informed knowledge of current concepts in this rapidly moving field, or to form
an integrated overview of the myriad factors involved in neoplastic cell proliferation.

This book comprises a number of state-of-the-art reviews written by leading scientists. Each chapter gives a concise overview of specific intra-and intercellular events which regulate the proliferation of neoplastic cells, and the established and potential clinical implications of these developments. The topics have been selected to cover major recent advances in our understanding of the molecular events which govern cell division. It is expected that students, scientists and clinicians
working in the fields of oncology, pathology, and molecular/cellular biology would find this volume invaluable as a stimulating source of information.
