Finally, the book addresses ongoing management concerns such as monitoring environmental change and the need to introduce appropriate management strategies.

David Newsome is a lecturer in environmental science at Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia. His research interests include investigating the environmental impacts of tourism and recreation in national parks and nature reserves, exploring the use of  avifauna as a nature based tourism resource and the management of human-animal interactions. Susan Moore is part of the School of Environmental Science at Murdoch University in Western Australia. Her natural area tourism research includes human perceptions of impacts, and associated planning, management and monitoring concerns. Ross Dowling is Associate Professor of Tourism and Head of the School of Marketing and Tourism at the Edith Cowan University, Joondalup, Western Australia. He is Treasurer of the Ecotourism Association of Australia and is Vice Chairperson of the Forum Advocating Cultural and Ecotourism in Western Australia. For his contributions to the environment he has been awarded a Mobil Environmental Prize and a New Zealand Conservation Foundation Citation.
