Kinetics of Complex Plasmas (eBook)
XIX, 298 Seiten
Springer India (Verlag)
978-81-322-1820-3 (ISBN)
The presentation in the book is based on charge balance on the dust particles, number and energy balance of the constituents and atom-ion-electron interaction in the gaseous plasma. Size distribution of dust particles, statistical mechanics, Quantum effects in electron emission from and accretion on dust particles and nonlinear interaction of complex plasmas with electric and electromagnetic fields have been discussed in the book. The book introduces the reader to basic concepts and typical applications. The book should be of use to researchers, engineers and graduate students.
Prof. Mahendra Singh Sodha is presently a Visiting Professor at Centre of Energy Studies I.I.T. Delhi and has worked in universities and industry in India, USA and Canada. He has served three universities as Vice-Chancellor and IIT Delhi as Professor, Head of Department, Dean, Deputy Director, etc. Prof. Sodha has been Ph.D thesis advisor to over seventy candidates who successfully completed the programme. He has published over 600 papers in international journals of repute in plasma physics, optics, semiconductors, energy, combustion and ballistics etc., in addition to authoring/editing eleven books. Prof. Sodha is a Fellow of Indian National Science Academy and National Academy of Sciences, India and has received S.S. Bhatnagar prize for physical science in 1974. The honour of Padmashri was conferred on Prof. Sodha by President of India in 2003.
