This publication provides interim guidance on the implications of the new dose limit for the lens of the eye for occupational radiation protection that is applicable to planned, exposure situations. The new dose limit for the lens of the eye was included in GSR Part 3: Radiation Protection and Safety of Radiation Sources: International Basic Safety Standards, Interim edition, (2011). In the longer term, the guidance provided in this publication will form the basis for the consensus guidance in relation to the new dose limit for the lens of the eye that is to be provided in two safety guides currently being developed.
