The deuteromycetes are among the less common, microscopic fungi. They represent the phase of asexual multiplication of the higher fungi and the second group of fungi in numerical significance after the asomycetes. This work is based on the modern classification of the group.

The work presented here is based on the modern classification of this group. Barring some tropical examples, it covers essentially genera found in the temperate zone of the Northern hemisphere.
