This work provides a review of all aspects relating to hormones in birds, both wild and domestic. Topics include behavioural endocrinology, roles of testosterone, control of song production, circadian rhythmicity and photoperiodic control of seasonal cycles, synthesis within the brain of hormones controlling behaviour and how it is regulated, and different aspects of reproduction, from gonadal differentiation and gonadal function through control of egg size to the roles of and control of appetite and osmoregulation.
