Ongoing concern with diseases tied to poor lifestyle choices such as smoking, poor diet, alcohol consumption, and stress, led to an international symposium attended by leading experts. To bring attention to this major health concern, three of those experts invited prominent symposium participants to contribute to a book. This book, the result of that effort, addresses the molecular basis and cellular effects of free-radical and lifestyle-related diseases, it discusses mechanisms of immune suppression and other disease factors related to oxidative stress, and examines the therapeutic and prevention effects of specific nutrients, including flavonoids and polyphenols, and other phytonutrients.
