Electrochemical Analysis of Proteins and Cells presents the remarkable progress made over the years in the electrochemical analysis of proteins and cells, due to the rapid development of protein electrochemistry together with related technologies such as surface modification, molecular recognition, molecular assembly, and nanotechnology. As an interdisciplinary field combining electrochemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, biomedicine and material science, the electrochemical analysis of proteins and cells has attracted broad and extensive research interest. The main emphasis of this book is on the principles of electrochemical strategies and the practical utility of related detection systems, which is of great importance in all biological sciences, such as cell biology and molecular biology, as well as in biomedical fields like cancer research. This brief offers an up-to-date, easy-to-follow presentation of recent advances on the subject and can serve as a supplement for graduate-level courses in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, etc. It may also help young scientists get an overview of this topic.

Prof. Genxi Li received his B.Sc. in Polymer Chem., MSc. and Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the Chemistry Department at Nanjing University, China in 1988, 1991, and 1994, respectively before serving as a postdoctoral researcher at the University's Biochemistry Department. In May 1996, he became an Associate Professor, and March 2001, a full professor at the Biochemistry Department. He worked as a visiting scholar in the Department of Biology, Munich University, Germany in 1998; at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Tohoku University, Japan in 1999, and at the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, Harvard University, USA in 2000. His research interests include bioanalysis, electroanalysis, biosensors, nano-biology, and related areas. He served as Chair of the Biochemistry Department at Nanjing University from 1999 to 2010, and as Dean of the School of Life Sciences at Shanghai University from 2008 to 2011. He is now the Vice-President and Secretary-General of the Chinese Protein Society and a member of the Council of the Biophysical Society of China, the Chinese Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the Committee for Chemical Sensors, and the China Instrument & Control Society. He is also a member of the editorial board of several national and international journals.
