Garrett Hardin's seminal essay, "The Tragedy of the Commons", appeared in 1968 and has been at the centre of the debate of commonly owned ground or resources, such as western public grazing or the oceans. This book explores the issues in Hardin's essay.
" . . . an impressive collection of essays that provide a wide-ranging look at the question of how best to manage our common-pool resources. . . . a thought-provoking read . . . " —The Journal of Environmental Education
