Guides readers through the details of photo induced metastability and the results of the advanced experiments and simulations. This book is suitable for graduates and, scientific and industrial researchers. It includes a foreword of Kazunobu Tanaka.
This book is a review summarising the current state of research in the field, bridging the gaps in the existing literature. All the chapters are written by world leaders in research and development and guide readers through the details of photo induced metastability and the results of the latest experiments and simulations not found in standard monographs on this topic. It is a useful reference not only for graduates but also for scientific and industrial researchers. It includes a foreword of Kazunobu Tanaka.

Alexander V. Kolobov entered this amorphous field in 1977 when he joined Professor Boris T. Kolomiets' laboratory at the Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute, Leningrad. Since 1994 he has additionally been a senior research scientist at the Joint Research Center for Atom Technology at the National Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research, Tsukuba (Japan). In 2001 his position moved to the laboratory for Advanced Optical Technology at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Tsukuba (Japan).
