Filled with detail not often found in coverage of the chemistry involved with transition metals, this clearly written resource encourages enhanced interest in the study of organometallic chemistry. Among a wealth of topics it covers the 18 Valence Electron Rule, unique reactions in organometallic chemistry, bioorganometallic chemistry, relevant ligands, bonding, structures, and a variety of other reactions, processes, and applications essential to understanding this highly complex field. The text includes figures, equations, and a large number of problems and exercises at the end of each chapter.

Prof. B D Gupta is professor at the chemistry department of IIT Kanpur. After completing his MS (Hons) from Punjab University Chandigarh and Ph.D from Flinders University, Australia, he worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University College, London. After a one year teaching stint at Roorkee University (now IIT Roorkee), he joined IIT Kanpur where he has been teaching undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students for over 30 years. He has taught undergraduate classes for many years at various universities in the USA and Japan. His research interests are in the area of organometallic chemistry of cobalt compounds. He has published more than 90 research papers in international journals of repute. Prof. Anil J Elias is professor at the chemistry department of IIT Delhi. He holds a doctorate in inorganic chemistry from IIT Madras and has gained further experience as an Alexander von Humboldt fellow in Germany and later at the fluorine research laboratories of the University of Idaho, USA. He has been teaching undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students at IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi for over 16 years. His research interests are in the area of organometallic and main group chemistry. He has published more than 50 research papers including review articles in reputed international journals.
