Atlas of Forensic Pathology provides all of the tools necessary to evaluate and recognize major categories of trauma and unnatural death, and some of the natural death processes which can be misinterpreted as injury. The Atlas presents examples of numerous common injuries found on the bodies of trauma victims. In addition, the Atlas also contains examples of post-mortem artifacts, and other phenomenon found on the human skin which can be misinterpreted as evidence of injury by the untrained and inexperienced examiner. The chapters of the book present commonly seen injuries, the circumstances in which they occur, a discussion of the mechanisms of injury, and a description of characteristics which identify the injury. The text material is supplemented by over 300 photographs of the various artifacts and injuries with legends explaining the injury depicted and the mechanism of the injury or significance of the wound. In addition, the book contains tables listing the various examinations and studies which must be done when examining victims of gunshot wounds, stab wounds, blunt trauma, and asphyxia.
In addition, the atlas also discusses common pitfalls encountered in performing forensic autopsy
