Ankle arthritis remains one of the most painful and disabling conditions to affect the foot and ankle region. Despite advances in ankle arthroplasty and improved arthrodesis techniques treatment of ankle arthritis remains a major challenge for the orthopaedic surgeon. This issue addresses the latest approaches to the patient with ankle arthritis from medical management of the cartilage itself, to deformity correction and the most updated techniques in joint sparing procedures, as well as revision of prior surgery gone wrong.
