Brian Little trained at Cambridge University where he qualified with a distinction in Surgery. He was appointed Consultant Ophthalmologist to the Royal Free Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at London University in 1993.Throughout his career he has been closely involved in undergraduate and post-graduate training. He has experience in both lecturing and teaching at local, regional, national and international level. He has a particular interest in small incision cataract surgery which he has performed for over 15 years.He has developed a number of innovative microsurgical instruments.He is a UK Ambassador for the international eye charity Orbis and an active member of their Volunteer Faculty.He is a member of the Information Technology Committee and the Advanced Microsurgical Training Sub-Committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is also on the Council of the United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS).Most of his spare time is spent sat in front of a digital video editing suite.Mark Packer, MD, is Clinical Assistant Professor at the Casey Eye Institute, Department of Ophthalmology, Oregon Health and Science University. He practices in Eugene, Oregon, with I. Howard Fine, MD, and Richard S. Hoffman, MD. Dr. Packer graduated cum laude from Harvard University, receiving both an Honorary National Scholarship and a Harvard Scholarship. He received his medical degree from the University of California at Davis and completed his residency training in ophthalmology at Boston University Medical Center.Dr. Packer's clinical studies have concentrated in the area of new phacoemulsification and intraocular lens technology. He is currently Principal Investigator for the United States FDA monitored investigation of the Pharmacia Z9000 Tecnis Intraocular Lens. He is also an investigator for the C and C Vision CrystaLens, the Medennium Phakic Refractive Lens, the Rayner CenterFlex Lens and the Visioncare Implantable Miniaturized Telescope. Dr. Packer's recent publications include "Immersion A Scan Compared to Partial Coherence Interferometry" and "Refractive Lens Exchange with the Array Multifocal Lens," both appearing in The Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and "Initial Clinical Experience with an Anterior Surface Modified Prolate Intraocular Lens," appearing in the Journal of Refractive Surgery. He served as editor for "Functional Vision," the Spring, 2003, issue of International Ophthalmology Clinics. Dr. Packer has authored or coauthored multiple journal articles and book chapters, delivered hundreds of presentations at scientific meetings and performed live surgery on four continents. He represents the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery as a member of the Council of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.Richard Packard is Clinical Service Unit Director for the County of Berkshire based at the Prince Charles Eye Unit King Edward VII Hospital Windsor and Director of Arnott Eye Associates in London. His special interest is small incision cataract surgery. He has been performing phacoemulsification since 1979 when he was Senior registrar at Charing Cross Hospital in London. His teaching career in cataract surgery began in 1980 and since then he has lectured in 46 countries across the world and performed live surgery in over 20. He has authored and co authored multiple papers in peer reviewed journals as well as 2 books on cataract surgery and many book chapters. His particular interest at present is in technologies and IOLs for microincisional cataract surgery.Larry Benjamin qualified from UCL and UCH in London in 1980. After teaching Anatomy for a year in Cambridge he completed a trauma rotation and then began his Ophthalmology training in Brighton. This was followed by a post at the Western Ophthalmic Hospital and then his Registrar training at Moorfields Eye Hospital. He went to Oxford as a Clinical Lecturer / Senior Registrar and was appointed a Consultant at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 1990.He developed an interest in microsurgical skills training shortly thereafter and set up the Stoke Mandeville Microsurgery course in 1991. This ran for 9 years until he was appointed Chairman of the Basic Microsurgical Skills sub-committee at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1999. A new skills centre is now in operation at the College running basic and higher surgical skills training courses on a regular basis.Clinically he has an interest in cataract surgery and the management of Diabetic Retinopathy including the use of early Vitrectomy in it's control.
