The information is intended to be a useful tool to assist practicing obstetrician-gynecologists in maintaining current knowledge in a rapidly changing field and to prepare them better for the role of primary care practitioner for women. Newly expanded sections of "Precis: Reproductive Endocrinology" includes important topics on: sexual development and puberty; the ovary and the menstrual cycle; disorders of ovulation and menstruation; and endocrine problems.This book emphasises on the role of the physician in interpreting results and recognizing the reliability, clinical usefulness, problems, and pitfalls of assays performed and interpreted by different laboratories in fertility; general overview of evaluation and management; focus on factors affecting success rates of treatment; and discuss the newest advances in ovulation induction, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, ethical issues, and emerging technologies.It also discusses recurrent pregnancy loss. The section on menopause has been updated based on the results of the Women's Health Initiative clinical trials.
