This book has been designed to first develop the health professional's knowledge of pain and then take the reader through the key stages of its assessment and management in the rheumatology setting. It is hoped that by the end of the book the clinician will feel more confident to address this most challenging symptom and thereby be better equipped to meet their patients' needs. The patient is put at the heart of this book and this is summarised in the final of four sections, by a series of case studies. These cover the more common rheumatology conditions, and are intended to help the reader consolidate their knowledge and see how it can be directly applied to realistic clinical scenarios.
