Contains an interactive scenario, which allows you to apply your knowledge of basic immunology to a clinical situation in a virtual Accident and Emergency department. This scenario also contains self-assessment questions on basic immunology such as how the body fights infection and molecules and peptides involved in phagocytosis.
This interactive clinical scenario depicts a serious infectious illness in a small child. The paramedic handover report states: "This is Katy who is three years old. She has been unwell for a few hours. She is photophobic, and screams to touch. She has a headache and is crying inconsolably. She had a dose of Calpol an hour ago." This interactive scenario allows you to apply your knowledge of basic immunology to a clinical situation. There are also self-assessment questions on basic immunology such as how the body fights infection and molecules and peptides involved in phagocytosis. Equivalent to a one-hour workshop on the application of Basic Immunology theory to clinical practice, this work could also form part of a student assignment. Recommended System requirements are: Windows 2000 / XP or later; Mac OS 9 or X; 512MB RAM (128MB minimum); and, Internet access.
