The book begins with an overview of the context of children's nursing within a multi-cultural society, and reflects the trend in the UK towards greater care in the community. The second unit concentrates on the developmental stages, emphasizing the nurses' role in health promotion. This section then considers the normal problems expected in otherwise healthy children and when in the course of childhood these problems are most likely to be manifested. The third unit considers the child and family with special needs. The Fourth and longest unit then goes into the detailed care required in caring for children with serious health problems.
