This book is a considerably revised new edition of "Accident Surgery", enlarged by a third and with new editors. General issues in trauma surgery are given greater prominence and topics such as priority assessment, prehospital care, haemorrhage control and emergency airway management are discussed.
Previously published in the "Operative Surgery Series" under the title "Accident Surgery", this new edition has undergone considerable change. The new editors have increased the number of chapters by one third and by drawing on their own experience of working in leading trauma centres they have produced a book that reflects the increasingly specialized nature of modern trauma surgery. Increased attention is given to general issues such as priority assessment, prehospital care, control of haemorrhage and emergency airway management, and there is more space given to a discussion of chest injuries, vascular injuries and skin, soft tissue and nerve injuries. The text is complemented by specially commissioned drawings which clearly depict each step of the procedure under discussion.

General considerations in operative management; face and neck trauma; eye trauma; trauma to the chest; abdominal and pelvic injury; vascular injuries; skin and soft tissue nerve injuries; spinal and hand injuries; orthopaedics.
