This practical reference book focuses on the uses of ultrasound for office evaluation and management of the infertile woman. The opening section describes ultrasound equipment, basic transvaginal ultrasound techniques and scanning techniques for each of the pelvic anatomic structures. The second section focuses on evaluation and management of the infertile woman, including ovulation monitoring and evaluation of tubal, pelvic and uterine conditions. The third chapter describes the use of ultrasound in the treatment of infertility, including ovulation induction and various assisted reproductive technologies. The fourth section discusses the evaluation and management of early pregnancy, complications resulting from infertility treatment and ectopic pregnancy. The final section covers the evaluation of gynaecologic pathology including ovarian masses and the postmenopausal pelvis. The text contains nearly 300 sonographic images which are complemented by a system of visual icons of the pelvis at the bottom of the of the images. The icons enable the reader to visualize the position of the vaginal transducer and the direction of the ultrasound beam.
