It also contains the latest version of the World Health Organization's International Classification of Diseases for Oncology, 2nd edition, 1990. The classification of malignant tumours is intended to assist the clinician in determining the prognosis and planning treatment, and in evaluating the results of treatment. The classification also aims to facilitate the exchange of information among treatment centres and to contribute to the continuing investigation of cancer.
