This teaching atlas shows how breast ultrasound, using the manual real-time examination technique, is done and how important the method is to a complete breast cancer prevention programme. The reliability of this method alone and in combination with mammography is demonstrated in case studies.

The indications cover palpable breast masses, mammographically indeterminate lesions, post-operative follow-up, ultrasound-guided invasive procedures and the analysis of axillary, supra-clavicular and intra-clavicular lymph nodes. This teaching atlas shows how breast ultrasound, using the manual real-time examination technique, is done and how important the method is to a complete breast cancer prevention programme. The reliability of this method alone and in combination with mammography is demonstrated in case studies.
