This book provides a comprehensive review of the basic science, diagnosis and management of spinal cord problems with particular reference to the choice of investigative techniques, advances in understanding the underlying patho-physiology, treatment and rehabilitation. Based on the previously successful Diseases of the Spinal Cord, most of the material has been completely revised and re-written to bring it up to date with the new developments which have appeared since publication of the original book in 1991. Basic sciences including spasticity and pain are discussed, while new chapters include the effects on the autonomic nervous system, psycho-social and sexual problems and medico-legal aspects.
