As powerful CAD packages become ever more widely used, many trainees move on rapidly to generate three dimensional images and other design data from fairly simple plans. As long as the user is basically familiar with 2D AutoCAD, this book will form an introduction to solid modelling.
The author's first book Beginning AutoCAD takes the absolute beginner through a series of graded exercises which leave the student with a grasp of the main commands, and able to draw simple two dimensional diagrams. As powerful CAD packages become ever more widely used many trainees move on rapidly to generate three dimensional images and other design data from fairly simple plans. As long as the user is basically familiar with 2D AutoCAD this book will form an ideal introduction to solid modelling, and includes sections on shading and rendering surface detail. As with Bob McFarlane's other books the style of presentation assists learning at the keyboard with a minimum of teacher assistance.

Bob McFarlane is a Curriculum Manager (CAD and New Media) at Motherwell College. He is in charge of the following courses to HNC and HND level: a)Computer Aided Draughting and Design b)Architectural Technology with CAD c)Filmcraft and Animation d)Internet and Multimedia Design and Development Bob has been writing AutoCAD books since 1993, the first being published for AutoCAD Release 12. Bob is an Autodesk Educational Developer and has a particular interest in the modelling concepts. Outside of work, Bob s interests include Bonsai trees, stamp collecting, remote control aircraft and kite flying. At present Bob spend most of his time with his wife Helen, his children Linda and Stephen and his granddaughter Ciara.
