Alvaro Ossa is the Director of the Technology Transfer Office at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC), with over 20 years of professional experience in technology transfer and innovation. He holds a degree in Industrial Civil Engineering from the Federico Santa María Technical University in Chile and a Master's in Policy Studies in Education from University College London. In 2019, he was appointed Commissioner on the National Accreditation Commission for Chilean universities, recognized for his distinguished expertise in innovation.
Alvaro leads UC's research and development, intellectual property, and commercialization efforts. He also serves as the President of the Network of Technology Managers of Chilean Universities. A frequent speaker at national and international panels, Alvaro is also a columnist for several national press outlets and has taught various training programs in technological innovation management and entrepreneurship across the country.
In 2017, the Chilean government named Alvaro Technology Manager of the Year. From 2017 to 2021, the UC Technology Transfer Office was recognized as Chile's best technology transfer office. Under Alvaro's leadership, UC was Chile's top institution for patent applications from 2015 to 2023.
