Dr. Gonzalez joined the Department for Health at the University of Bath in 2014 as an Assistant Professor in Human Physiology before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2017 and Professor in 2020. He is also a consultant to sports teams and industry. He is interested in human fuel use, how we get fuel from our diet, burn fuels during exercise; and store fuels when they exceed our requirements. His research group employs a variety of methods to understand human fuel use, including indirect calorimetry, tissue biopsies and stable isotope (IV) infusion and ingestion. In recognition of his research, Dr. Gonzalez received the Julie Wallace Award 2018 from the Nutrition Society. He also serves on the editorial board of The Journal of Physiology and am an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Sport Nutrition & Exercise Metabolism.
