This book equips its readers with fundamental concepts and a comprehensive understanding of the principle and functionality of biosensors. This book focuses on various biosensor technologies like field effect transistor (FET), plasmonics, bioresorbable biosensors, electro-chemical biosensors, etc., and their applications. The book also covers the reliability aspects and challenges in biosensor development that are a major cause of erroneous calibration and even failure. The book also features the concept of bio receptors, immobilization techniques, target-receptor interactions, surface energy changes, sensitivity, selectivity, etc. This would be an ideal reference for researchers and scholars studying biosensors realized with various material sets and technologies including state-of-the-art modern materials and innovative techniques.

Dr. Ribu Mathew has earned his Doctorate degree in Electronics Engineering from Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University. A Gold Medallist in his post-graduation, Dr. Mathew completed his M.Tech in VLSI Design and B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering. In his Doctoral research work, he has contributed to the field of design, modeling, and fabrication of NEMS technology piezoresistive readout-based nano cantilever sensors for chemical and biological sensing applications. In addition to the computational knowledge in industrial standard NEMS devices, he has gained experience in NEMS/IC layout tools, and clean room fabrication technologies from CeNSE, IISc Bangalore. His publications are in reputed journals like Nano-micro Letters Springer, Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering (JMM) IOP, Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics IOP, Measurement Elsevier, etc. He has also presented several papers at reputed International conferences. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of the VLSI society of India (VSI). His research area includes the design, modeling, and fabrication of MEMS/NEMS technology-based sensor and actuator systems, especially micro/nano cantilever and diaphragm-based devices, bio-MEMS, analog/RF IC design, SoC design, IC packaging, and device modeling. Currently, he is an Associate Professor in Manipal School of Information Sciences (MSIS), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), India.   Dr. J. Ajayan received his B.Tech Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Kerala University in 2009, M.Tech and Ph.D. Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Karunya University, Coimbatore, INDIA, in 2012 and 2017 respectively. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at SR University, Telangana, India. He has published more than 130 research articles (including 60 SCI articles) in various journals (Elsevier, Taylor and Francis, Springer, IOP Science, Wiley) and international conferences. He has published three books, more than 15 book chapters, and 3 patents. He is a reviewer of more than 30 journals in various publishers. He is a Guest Editor of a Special Issue on P2P Computing for Beyond 5G Network (B5G) and Internet-of-Everything (IoE) by Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications, Springer, and a Special Issue on Energy Harvesting Devices, Circuits and Systems for Internet of Things by Microelectronics Journal, Elsevier. He has served more than 10 conferences as a technical advisory/reviewer committee. His areas of interest are microelectronics, semiconductor devices, nanotechnology, RF integrated circuits, and photovoltaics.
