Respiratory disease is an extremely common cause of morbidity, disability and mortality in the elderly. The purpose of this book is to provide a detailed text covering respiratory physiology, pathology and disease in old age. All contributors are practising clinicians, chiefly geriatricians or respiratory physicians, and as such the book provides a practical approach to the clinical management of respiratory problems. It also focuses on recent research development and highlights areas where knowledge is lacking and further research is necessary.
