Nutrition and Dietary Interventions in Cancer
Springer International Publishing (Verlag)
978-3-031-55621-0 (ISBN)
This book presents the most up-to-date information on the effects of nutrition and food on cancer prevention and management. The book will provide clinicians and other healthcare practitioners with an educational source on how to educate cancer patients and their families on nutrition and dietary during cancer treatment. Recent nutritional epidemiology studies have occasionally produced controversial or unexpected results and highlight the need for additional research on diet and cancer risk. Chapters within the book focus among others on the role of natural antioxidants in cancer, the importance of micronutrients in cancer prevention and nutritional genomics and their role in cancer prevention.
By familiarizing readers with the latest developments in this complex field, the book offers a valuable resource for scientists, clinicians and students alike.
Dr. Sadr Shaheed, a distinguished Translational Omics Scientist in the Transplantation Research Group at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Oxford UK, is dedicated to advancing our understanding of human cancer and transplantation through innovative biomarker research. His groundbreaking work involves developing novel methods for generating Multi-Omics data from diverse biological materials, collaborating with institutions such as the National Health Service (NHS), Consortium on Organ Preservation in Europe (COPE), and the Consortium on Quality in Organ Donation (QUOD) in the UK.
Dr. Shaheed, a Bahauddin Zakariya University graduate with a Bachelor of Pharmacy, earned an MSc in Oncology from the University of Bradford UK in 2011. For five years, he served as a Research Technician in Proteomics at the same institute, contributing significantly to biomarker identification in human cancers. In 2017, he completed a PhD at the Institute of Cancer Therapeutics, where his research focused on early detection and stratification of breast cancer subtypes through innovative Proteomics. From 2017 to 2019, Dr. Shaheed played a key role in a Drug Development Programme funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research UK. In 2019, he joined the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, managing the Proteomics facility and leading the development of new methods for protein analysis. Since 2020, in his role as a Translational Omics Scientist at the University of Oxford, Dr. Shaheed has been making notable advancements in the field of solid organ transplantation.
