This is the 1996 supplement to Volume 2 "Self-Assessment Manual". It presents an update to the American Association of Blood Banks Quality Program and contains the following new systems: system H - apheresis (component and therapeutic); system L - autologous blood (preoperative and perioperative); system N - histocompatibility and organ transplantation; system Q - haematopoietic progenitor cells; and system R - tissue storage and dispensing. Included in the text are flow charts and tree diagrams that can be inserted into Volume 2, and the same standard format contained in the "Quality Program Manual" is used. Critical control points, key elements, system checks and self-assessment surveys are also included. The text aims to help facilities design, implement and monitor a quality assurance programme.
