This book outlines the use of supramolecules as different pharmaceutical drugs. Supramolecular chemistry in pharmaceutical sciences is quite a young and rapidly developing field. Supramolecular assemblies might offer an alternative for existing pharmaceutical formulations, as they facilitate the improvement of physicochemical and pharmacological properties i.e., higher bioavailability, better biocompatibility and drug-targeting, fewer multidrug-resistances. This book offers an overview of the recent advances in supramolecular structures and discusses the future aspects and challenges related to the development of these molecules, providing also a perspective on how to overcome these issues.

Divided into 13 chapters contributed by experts in their field, the book provides a deeper understanding of intermolecular forces playing pivotal roles in mediating the interactions between chemical molecules and biological systems by focusing on different applications of supramolecularcompounds. In this book, readers will find valuable insights into the preparation of supramolecules and the latest research and development trends of supramolecules as anticancer drugs, including liquid-crystalline supramolecular assemblies, and as antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory and cardiovascular drugs. Particular attention is given to the application of supramolecules in the fields of biomedicine, bioimaging, and vaccine development.

Given its breadth, this book will appeal to a wide readership from researchers and students interested in these fields to professionals in the pharma industry.

Dr. Nidhi Goel received her doctorate in Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India. After postdoctoral research from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, Karnataka, India, she started her independent academic career as Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India. Her research focuses on developing strategies, based on supramolecular building approaches, for rational construction of functional coordination polymers. Their prospective uses include magnetic, catalysis, luminescence, and sensing applications. She is also working on drug design, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology. Dr. Goel has published more than fifty peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters in reputed international journals and books. She has 15 years of research experience along with 06-year teaching experience at UG and PG level. She has been the Principal Investigator on 04 research projects from the Government of India. She is also a regular reviewer of a variety of international journals and has also received several prestigious fellowships and research awards. Moreover, Dr. Goel is editing several books in CRC press Taylor & Francis group, Springer, and Elsevier. She is also acting as Guest Associate Editor in reputed journals. Dr. Naresh Kumar has completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla and Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, respectively. He has postdoctoral experience at Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Indian Institute of Technology Indore. He worked as Assistant Professor at Department of Biochemistry, Deshbandhu College, University of Delhi, Kalkaji, New Delhi, India. With more than 13 years of research and 02 years of teaching experience, he has supervised 05 Masters dissertations and contributed significantly to 21 peer-reviewed publications (Citations: 1900, h-index: 13, i10: 14) in addition to several invited book chapters with reputed international publishers. His current research focuses on chemical biology, computational biology, drug discovery, and natural products. Dr. Kumar regularly reviews scientific articles for a variety of international publishers such as Elsevier, Springer Nature, Frontiers, Taylor & Francis, Bentham Science, and Academic journals.
