Sanjoy K. Bhattacharya, Ph.D. is a Tenured Professor of Ophthalmology and Research Scientist at the University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He is the founding Director of the Miami Integrative Metabolomics Research Center, the Director of the Ophthalmology Mass Spectrometry Core Facility/Shared Instrument Facility, and the Director of the Graduate Program in Vision Science and Investigative Ophthalmology at Miller School of Medicine. His research adopts a multidisciplinary approach which includes mass spectrometric proteomic and lipidomic approaches to study neurodegenerative diseases, and majorly focus is a group of progressive irreversible blinding diseases collectively called glaucoma and also a group of demyelinating diseases termed multiple sclerosis that frequently is associated with visual impairment preceding neurological deficits.
