This text describes the genetic and pharmacological principles for understanding abnormal responses to drugs and environmental chemicals. These principles are illustrated in discussions of thirty-three human traits of pharmacogenetic significance. The book will be of use to pharmacologists, medical geneticists, pharmacists, and their students.

Wendell W. Weber, Ph.D., M.D., is Professor at the Pharmacology department at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. His teaching and research interests have been concentrated in the area of pharmacogenetics for the past 20 years.
