A text which provides detailed laboratory methods for the diagnosis of haematologic diseases prenatally, at birth, and in infancy. The disorders disucsses include haemoglobinpathies, haemophilias and other coagulation diseases, erthrocytes, leukocytes, bone marrow failure, and haematologic malignancies. The methods range from molecular biology to protein chemistry to cell biology. The purpose of this book is to unite, in a single resource, most of the techniques commonly used for diagnosis of these disorders. Special emphasis is placed on the methods used for prenatal diagnosis, from the obstetric as well as laboratory perspectives. The disorders emphasized include the haemoglobinopathies and haemophilias, since they represent the largest haematologic groups for which prenatal diagnosis is requested.
