This work relates selected obstetrical events to developmental sequelae in infancy and early childhood, and presents available information on prognosis in early and middle childhood based on obstetrical situations. Emphasized are consequences of naturally occurring events such as foetal heart rate changes and foetal acidosis, intra-uterine growth retardation and premature rupture of membranes and there is an examination of the long-term significance of the prenatal use of tocolytic agents and steroids.
