Malnutrition is a critical factor in almost all pathological conditions in humans. The human body contains many ‘soldiers’ and mechanisms that protect it from threats, whether internal or external. Maintaining these self-defense means is dependent on healthy nutrition and regular physical activity. This book considers the intricacies of healthy nutrition, calculation of the daily nutritional needs, the balance of incoming and outgoing energy, healthy restoration of body weight disorders (overweight and underweight), and the treatment of food intolerance, as well as the use of food supplements and ergogenic aids in sport.

Agron Rexhepi, MD, PhD, served as the resident Doctor of Sports Medicine at the Centre of Sports Medicine and Recreation for over a decade. His responsibilities included diagnosis and rehabilitation of the sports injuries suffered by athletes, morphometric measurements and testing the athletes’ functional abilities, evaluating and ranking athletes according to post-testing results. In addition, he served as Professor at the Medicine Faculty of the University of Prishtina, Kosovo, and currently works as the Director of the Sports Center “Corpore Sano”. He is the author of two books and over 70 papers.
