This book examines the role of computer-assisted techniques for discovering, designing, optimizing and manufacturing new, effective, and safe pharmaceutical formulations and drug delivery systems. The book discusses computational approaches, statistical modeling and molecular modeling for the development and safe delivery of drugs in humans. The application of concepts of QbD (Quality by Design), DoE (Design of Experiments), artificial intelligence and in silico pharmacokinetic assessment/simulation have been made a lot easier with the help of commercial software and expert systems. The book also fills in the gap between pharmaceutics and molecular modeling at micro, meso and maro scale by covering topics such as advancements in computer-aided Drug Design (CADD), drug-polymer interactions in drug delivery systems, molecular modeling of nanoparticles and pharmaceutics/bioinformatics.

Dr. Vikas Anand Saharan had obtained his B. Pharm from SBSPGI Dehradun, master's from NIPER Mohali and PhD from Mohanlal Sukhadia University Udaipur. He has 20 years of teaching and research experience in pharmacy, published 56+ papers in journals, presented 70+ papers in conferences, supervised 30+ M.Pharm and 02 PhD thesis. He has authored 3 books and 11 book chapters. He has received an award for GATE guidance and appreciation awards for teaching and research. He is a reviewer, editorial board member in various national and international journals. He is a recipient of grant-in-aid under the AICTE-MODROBS project. Presently he is also entrusted with the responsibilities of chief programme coordinator for PhD and nodal officer for AISHE at Sardar Bhagwan Singh University.
