Designed for neurobiologists and immunologists, this volume presents new studies in the field of neuroendocrinology which have implications for clinical research.
This volume presents five new studies in the field of neuroendocrine medicine which have implications for clinical research in neuroscience and immunology. The first study provides evidence that brain aromatase exerts considerable control over aggressive behaviour in vertebrates. The second discusses how the neuroendocrine system may function as a marker for genetic susceptibility to ethanol addiction. The third examines a new vascular endothelial growth factor that may facilitate tumour growth and metastasis. The fourth study investigates the molecular basis of neuroendocrine immunology and what processing mechanisms the CNS, endocrine and immune systems have in common. The text concludes with a discussion of the possible function of prolactin receptors in the immune and central nervous systems.
