This evidence-based book focuses on contemporary issues related to human health and well-being. Drawing on the first-hand experiences of academics and researchers, it provides a holistic perspective on the importance of both mental and physical health for quality of life. It is divided into seven sections: changing perspectives on well-being; the mental health of students; the well-being of elderly people and marginalized populations; the role of family and teachers; psycho-social support; the right to health; and future perspectives. Covering current topics, such as the challenges posed by pandemics like COVID-19, the book discusses future strategies for addressing contemporary and emerging health issues and the overall well-being of the general public, an area not covered in any of the previous volumes. Furthermore, it explores the need for the involvement of multidisciplinary professionals in examining general health and well-being issues. Given its scope, it is an indispensable resource for a wide range of professionals and researchers from various fields, such as the social sciences, law, public health, medicine, education, and environmental studies. In addition, the book appeals to health policymakers, educational administrators, law enforcement agencies, as well as health workers, psychologists, and social workers dealing with clients in hospitals, educational institutions, and at the community level.

Sibnath Deb, Ph.D. & D.Sc., is Director of Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, India. Prior to joining RGNIYD, he taught at the Department of Applied Psychology, Pondicherry University (A Central University), and at the University of Calcutta. During April 2009 to August 2009, Prof. Deb visited the School of Public Health, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Brisbane, Australia as Visiting Faculty. Currently, he is also Adjunct Professor of the School of Social Justice, Faculty of Law, QUT, Australia. During 2004-2008, he served the International Society for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) as Councillor Member. He has 30 years of teaching, research, and administrative experience and has published a large number of research articles in leading national and international journals as well as in edited books. He has written eight books and edited six. Some of his latest books include (i) Disadvantaged Children in India: Empirical Evidence, Policies and Actions (Springer, 2020); (ii) Community Psychology: Theories and Applications (Sage, 2020); (iii) Social Psychology in Everyday Life (SAGE, 2019); (iv) Childhood to Adolescence: Issues and Concerns (Pearson, 2020); and (v) Positive Schooling and Child Development: International Perspectives (Springer, 2018). His research interests include child safety, students' mental health, and adolescent reproductive health.  He has got three international and five national awards for his contribution in academics and research. In 2019, he received the 'Visitor's Award 2019' from Hon'ble President of India for his contribution in the field of child protection and health psychology.
 
Brian A. Gerrard has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, from the University of Toronto. He holds teaching awards from two universities. He has extensive experience teaching a wide variety of Master's and Doctoral level courses in counselor education. Dr. Gerrard is Emeritus Faculty Member of the University of San Francisco where he developed the masters MFT program and for 14 years served as MFT Coordinator. His orientation emphasizes an integration of family systems and problem-solving approaches. He is Experienced Administrator and has been Chair of the USF Counseling Psychology Department three times. Currently, he is Member of the Board, University of San Francisco Center for Child and Family Development. The center, co-founded by Dr. Gerrard, has for years managed the largest longest-running School-Based Family Counseling program of its type in the USA. Its mission possible program has served more than 20,000 children and families in over 70 Bay area schools. Dr. Gerrard is also Chair of the Institute for School-Based Family Counseling and Symposium Director for the Oxford Symposium in School-Based Family Counseling. Currently, Dr. Gerrard is Chief Administrative Officer and Core Faculty Member in the Western Institute for Social Research in Berkeley, California. He is Senior Editor of the book School-Based Family Counseling: An Interdisciplinary Practitioner's Guide (Routledge, 2019). He has an active research project developing computer content analysis programs for use in School-Based Family Counseling.
