Fundamentals of Implant Dentistry

John Beumer III, DDS, MS, erwarb 1967 seinen DDS an der University of California, San Francisco. Anschließend schloss er dort 1970 sein Postgraduiertenstudium in der Zahnmedizin ab, bevor er sich an der UCLA auf dem Gebiet der Prothetik weiterbildete. Er ist emeritierter Honorarprofessor der Abteilung für zahnärztliche Prothetik an der UCLA School of Dentistry und war früher deren Leiter. Dr. Beumer hat zahlreiche Publikationen in der Fachwelt veröffentlicht, darunter Maxillofacial Rehabilitation (Quintessence Publishing, 2011) und Fundamentals of Implant Dentistry (Quintessence Publishing, 2015-2016).

Robert F. Faulkner, DDS, schloss sein Studium an der Ohio State University im Jahr 1980 ab. Nach einem einjährigen klinischen Praktikum praktizierte er bis 1990 als Zahnarzt im Nordwesten von Ohio, bevor er an der UCLA School of Dentistry ein Zusatzstudium im Bereich Prothetik absolvierte. Dr. Faulkner erhielt 1992 sein Examen in Prothetik und 1993 ein weiteres in Oberkiefer-Gesichtsprothetik. Darüber hinaus erhielt er während seiner dreijährigen Facharztausbildung eine umfassende Zusatzausbildung durch das UCLA Implant Center. Er hielt sowohl auf nationaler als auch auf internationaler Ebene zahlreiche Vorträge über verschiedene Aspekte der Prothetik und Implantologie. Dr. Faulkner wohnt in Cincinnati, Ohio, wo er eine Privatpraxis betreibt, in der er sich auf festsitzende und herausnehmbare Prothesen, Kiefer- und Gesichtsprothetik sowie Implantatprothetik spezialisiert hat.

Kumar C. Shah, BDS, MS, ist Professor für Zahnmedizin und approbierter Prothetiker und Kieferorthopäde im Fachbereich Advanced Prosthodontics der UCLA. Er erwarb seinen Doktor an der Staatlichen Universität von Singapur und seinen Master of Science sowie ein Diplom im Bereich Prothetik an der Ohio State University. Anschließend durchlief er ein Stipendienprogramm für Kiefer- und Gesichtsprothetik sowie ein Programm für angewandte Wissenschaften an der UCLA. Dr. Shah ist Direktor des Graduate Prosthodontics Residency Program an der UCLA, des Advanced Prosthodontics and Implantology Preceptorship Programs sowie Direktor der Faculty Group Dental Practice an der UCLA. Er ist Mitglied des American Board of Prosthodontics, Fellow der Academy of Prosthodontics, Fellow des American College of Prosthodontists und Fellow des International Team for Implantology (ITI). Er war im Vorstand mehrerer gemeinnütziger zahnmedizinischer Organisationen. Er ist nicht nur einer der Herausgeber beider Ausgaben von Fundamentals of Implant Dentistry, Vol. 1, sondern auch Mitglied des Redaktionsbeirats des Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry und war außerdem Gutachter für mehrere Peer Reviewed Zeitschriften. Dr. Shah praktiziert derzeit in der zahnärztlichen Gemeinschaftspraxis der UCLA-Fakultät. Er beschäftigt sich mit allen Bereichen der restaurativen und ästhetischen Zahnheilkunde (festsitzende und herausnehmbare Prothesen), einschließlich der Rehabilitation und Rekonstruktion des gesamten Mundes mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf der Implantatprothetik.

Benjamin Wu, DDS, PhD, erwarb seinen Doktortitel in Zahnmedizin an der University of Pacific, seine anschließende Spezialisierung in Prothetik an der Harvard School of Dental Medicine und promovierte in Werkstofftechnik am Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Er ist Nachfolger des bisherigen Leiters der Abteilung für Prothetik, Dr. John Beumer, und Direktor des Weintraub Center for Reconstructive Biotechnology. Er war Lehrstuhlinhaber im Fachbereich Bioengineering an der UCLA School of Engineering und hält weitere Ämter in den Fachbereichen Materialwissenschaft und -technik sowie Kieferchirurgie inne. Dr. Wu hat mehr als 250 von Gutachtern geprüfte wissenschaftliche Arbeiten und mehr als 40 Patente veröffentlicht. Für seine innovative Forschung erhielt er regelmäßig Fördermittel der National Institutes of Health (NIH). Mit seinen Publikationen gehört er laut der standardisierten Zitiermetrik von Stanford über alle wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen hinweg zu den besten 2% aller Wissenschaftler. Er ist Fellow der Academy of Prosthodontics und behandelt regelmäßig in der UCLA Faculty Group Dental Practice.
