Successfully bridging the gap between theory and practice, this manual provides a wealth of creative ideas for lively and entertaining activities. This book examines recent advances in the analysis and description of phonological disorders and describes their management in the clinic. It is an extremely readable resource with concepts that are clearly presented and well organised. It is a stimulating and essential manual with an emphasis on clinical approaches that children will appreciate.
Gwen Lancaster Lesley Flynn (ne Pope) qualified from Leicester Polytechnic in 1981 and 1984 respectively. They worked together in Bristol and this book arose from their clinical interest in children with speech disorders. Lesley then worked in Newcastle, where she continued her innovative practices. She sadly died in 1992, but this book and its companion volume 'Working with Children's Phonology Sourcebook' are a fitting tribute to a talented therapist. Gwen taught speech and language therapy students at City University for ten years and is now employed by North Bristol NHS Trust with a paediatric caseload.
What is phonology?; Assessment and remediation; Meaningful minimal contrast therapy; The auditory approach; Articulation; Carryover generalisation.
