Understanding General Chemistry
CRC Press (Verlag)
978-1-032-18914-7 (ISBN)
Understanding General Chemistry details the fundamentals of general chemistry through a wide range of topics, relating the structure of atoms and molecules to the properties of matter. Written in an easy-to-understand format with helpful pedagogy to fuel learning, the book features main objectives at the beginning of each chapter, get smart sections, and check your reading section at the end of each chapter. The text is filled with examples and practices that illustrate the concepts at hand. In addition, a summary, and extensive MCQs, exercises and problems with the corresponding answers and explanations are readily available.
Additional features include:
Alerts students to common mistakes and explains in simple ways and clear applications how to avoid these mistakes.
Offers answers and comments alongside sample problems enabling students to self-evaluate their skill level.
Includes powerful methods, easy steps, simple and accurate interpretations, and engaging applications to help students understand complex principles.
Provides a bridge to more complex topics such as solid-state chemistry, organometallic chemistry, chemistry of main group elements, inorganic chemistry, and physical chemistry.
This introductory textbook is ideal for chemistry courses for non-science majors as well as health sciences and preparatory engineering students.
Dr Atef Korchef has for the past twenty years been teaching both general chemistry and inorganic chemistry at King khalid University, Abha, Saudi Arabia and University of Sfax, Tunisia. He participated to several training courses including application of quality standards QM to teaching courses, building courses, and student assessment. He earned his M. S., and Ph. D. in inorganic chemistry at the University of Sfax with highest distinction. He was a research scientist for several institutions in Tunisia, including Institute of Scientific and Technical Research, Centre of Research and Technology of Water, National Centre of Research in Materials Sciences and in France at Centre of Metallurgical Chemistry Studies. His main areas of research interest are water treatment by precipitation reactions and characterization of nanomaterials. He published two books and several research papers in highly qualified international journals. Awards that accredited to his name include Wiley award for the top download paper, School of Chemistry award for outstanding performance at King Khalid University (KKU), Vice Rector's award in recognition and appreciation of contribution to students at King Khalid University (KKU) and General Supervisor of Joint Programs award in recognition of the contribution to engineering students at King Khalid University (KKU).
